Introduction Should a Christian eat only kosher/clean foods as taught in the Old Testament? Or, can Christians eat anything placed before them?
A. Peter’s Vision
Whatever is the interpretation of Peter’s vision, one must be careful. If one says that Peter’s vision cannot be taken literally, than what about John’s visions in the Revelations? If one says visions cannot be taken literally than how is one to interpret Revelations? Was Jesus deceiving Peter when He told him to ‘kill and eat’?
“And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: [12] Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. [13] And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. [14] But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. [15] And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. [16] This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven. [17] Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate, [18] And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there. [9] While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee. [20] Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.”Acts 10:11-20
"And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days." Acts 10:48

Gentiles are not cleansed to become uncommon.
Those in Jerusalem are concerned about Gentiles and foods! Gentiles eat foods that aren’t clean. Peter ate foods that were most likely unclean! Jesus gave him a vision preparing him to eat all foods offered by Gentiles. Jesus had shown him to eat all foods, because all foods are now ‘clean’.

‘Meat’, #1033, never means ‘food articles allowed by Jewish Law’.
“I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.”Romans 14:14
C. Paul Corrects Peter
Paul’s point is not to be double minded.
“But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. 12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision. 13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation. 14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?”Galatians 2:11-14
D. Buy and eat with the only concern being of offending a weaker brother or sister.
“Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake: 26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof. 27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake. 28 But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof: 29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience? 30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? 31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:”1 Corinthians 10:25-32

2 Corinthians 6:17
‘Touch’ means ‘touch’ it does not mean ‘eat’.
“And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch (680) not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,”2 Corinthians 6:16-17
“Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.”Leviticus 11:8

Jehovah is preparing to return the Israelites back to Zion (v:8). They are not to touch anything unclean – like a body, certain foods (Leviticus 11), etc. These Israelites are under the Law of Moses. The Israelites today to be clean must be under the Law of Christ.
In Leviticus 11, ‘touching’ is used of connecting with an ‘unclean’ animal. Touching a dead person or touching a dead ‘unclean’ animal makes the live person unclean, if a person is under the Law of Moses.
Did Jesus sin when He touched a dead body? Was she dead or sleeping?
“And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. 40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. 41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. 42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.”Mark 5:39-42
She was dead!

God’s people sleep.
“And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep."Acts 7:60
Paul touched a dead body.
“And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. 10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.” Acts 20:9-10
Elisha touched a dead body.
“And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was dead, and laid upon his bed. 33 He went in therefore, and shut the door upon them twain, and prayed unto the LORD. 34 And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm. 35 Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes.”2 Kings 4:32-35

What does 2 Corinthians 6:17 mean? Jesus and Paul touched an unclean thing in the natural, a dead body. Does the verse mean one should not touch unclean things in the spiritual? Like witchcraft, astrology, numerology, etc.

‘Shambles’ never refers to a Jewish meat market. The context is meat having been offered to idols. Would a kosher meat market have meats having been offered to idols? NO. ‘Shambles’ would have pork. Eat it in faith knowing that God is not calling it ‘unclean’.

An Unclean Person
“For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean (169) person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.”Ephesians 5:5
What is an ‘unclean person’ under the New Covenant? Under the New Covenant an unclean person is anyone who is spiritually unclean. Generally akathartos is used to describe an unclean spirit (demon). Has a demon become unclean by eating the wrong foods? NO. A demon is spiritually unclean. A person becomes clean by receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, by water baptism in the name of Jesus for the washing away of sin, and fire baptism. All three parts are required for a person to be clean.
“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable (948), and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”Revelation 21:8

The following verses of defilement seem to refer to worshipping God the wrong way.
“I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name. 2 I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts; 3 A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick; 4 Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments, which eat swine's flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels; 5 Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. More verses of defilement by those who try to sanctify and purify themselves eating swine’s flesh, etc. A Christian knows a person is not sanctified and purified by eating swine’s flesh. These were acts of the Romans.
“For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. 16 For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many. 17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD. 18 For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.”Isaiah 66:15-18
Conclusion A Christian cannot eat anything that has been offered to idols, if the eating will offend a weaker brother or sister. A Christian cannot eat blood. A Christian can eat everything else.
