Faith in Jesus Christ is part of the greatest inheritance you can give or receive.
I was preaching last Sunday about faith. As a child, I can still remember the faith of my Grandmother Anastazie Guidry Dartez. She had a framed print of Jesus Christ praying on his knees at a rock, hanging on her bedroom wall.I have searched for several years all over the internet and in different art and antique shops for that picture to no avail! I had mentioned it during the sermon.
Monday morning when I opened my front door to my surprise there sat a copy of it on my doorstep. I asked everyone who was at the church meeting; none of them had placed the framed picture by our door! The Lord told someone to come to my house and put it there. It was exactly the same print and just as old. I cried for an hour after finding that picture.
I am so thankful to Jesus Christ for my heritage. I grew up in a family that prays and believes Jesus is God and answers prayer. I am so grateful that the path to Jesus was laid out before me. I had a Mother and Grandmother who prayed daily.
The Apostle Paul spoke of such faith being passed down from one generation to another in the following passage: “When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.” 2 Timothy 1:5
Keep praying even though you don’t think the situation is changing. Jesus answers prayer. Keep pointing your children down the right path.
